Periodontosis and Periodontitis

  • Some bacteria that cause periodontosis are really harmful, they may even be more harmful than smoking, hypertension, high cholesterol or overweight (see study).
With our microbiological test for periodontal bacteria carried out in a Swiss laboratory, we can identify which bacteria are present in the gums in order to treat them with a specific antibiotic, in addition to removing them mechanically with the Vector® appliance treatment. Our systems of oral hygiene and periodontal treatments together with the most advanced methods and a highly qualified staff, ensure the greatest duration and success for the prostheses we offer.
Before placing the implants, it is necessary to treat possible periodontal problems, otherwise the risk of suffering peri-implantitis (inflammation of the gum and bone surrounding the implant) is very high. A peri-implantitis problem not treated in due time will cause us to lose the implant in a couple of years.
In the event that you notice that an implant you have inserted has become unstable, see your dentist as soon as possible. The earlier you are diagnosed and treated correctly, the better the chances of saving the implant through periodontal treatment.
By going in for regular check-ups, patients who are on our “Recall” system (a service we offer by calling the patient every 6 months and reminding them to come in for their professional teeth cleaning or periodontal treatment appointment), put us in a position to find out about this problem in advance, should it occur.
